I got into making music when a friend of mine introduced me to freestyle rapping at high school. We would go out with our skateboards and my boombox that that we took literally everywhere. That thing weighed a ton and sounded like shit, but it allowed us to play beats in the trains or in the parks surrounding Bern where we held spontaneous cyphers.
I soon formed the rap Duo “Störä & Degree” with my good friend Nick, and we recorded about forty tracks in our DIY-studio and released two mixtapes with that material. I started to notice that I didn’t like to be in the center of stage, so I turned to making beats. At the time I had never played an instrument and had zero knowledge of music theory whatsoever. Sampling then got me interested in Jazz and other music. Around that time I built a recording studio with my friend Damien (aka. Baked D) in his garden shed. We branded it “Smokin’ Trees” and that’s where this here all started. Unfortunately, we had to close it soon after because of complaining neighbors.
One time when we went up to the mountains to a friend’s house to make beats and record music, my friend Lio (aka. StrychNine) brought his bass along. I tried playing the instrument and fell in love with it right away.
I started to attend some jam sessions that my friends were hosting in their band room but got frustrated soon because I sucked at playing. That motivated me to learn and commit to becoming an instrumentalist.
I moved in with a bunch of crazy musicians soon after and we created a musical advent calendar with over 50 people and bands that we recorded on a zoom H6 in our living room!
Around 2019 I revived Smokin’ Trees as a collaborative effort to make better beats and find an audience for our music.
In 2022 I released my debut Producer EP “No Bad Days” with Mvny More on vinyl, wich I’m very proud of.
Making beats is my passion and I hope you enjoy my music!
